“Realize that if you have time to whine and complain about something then you have the time to do something about it.” – Anthony J. D’Angelo

“When you consistently maintain a positive frame of mind, you’ll become known as a problem-solver rather than a complainer. People avoid complainers. They seek out problem-solvers.” – Joseph Sommerville

One of the things that’s been on my mind this week, and especially this morning, is how tough life is for many people, and how fortunate I have been. There are stresses in my life, as there are in anyone’s life, but how we deal with those stresses says a lot about us. I think I’ve made a lot of progress in how I deal with these things – but often my strategy now deals with venting and complaining and then letting it pass.

But I’m worried I complain too much. My goal for this week is to stop complaining entirely. I’m going to attempt to go an entire week without a single complaint. Tentatively, I’m thinking this is one of those goals that sounds simple, but is much harder to actually achieve its implementation. I will make sure to report back next week how it goes. Instead of complaining, I’m going to attempt to realize these stresses either don’t matter, or else work on finding a solution to overcome them.

Do you care to join me in this challenge?

Addendum: My friend Andrea just introduced me to A Complaint Free World, which aligns perfectly with this challenge. Consider checking it out and participating.

  1. I’m on board. Sounds like an awesome challenge. Instead of complaining about anything, I’ll find the positive. I’m going to start right now. I will also report back. Good luck JJ. You can do it.
