“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.” – Frederick Keonig

I’ve recently been in Meridian, MS frequently for work. Most of the people I know who have been or lived there have mostly negative things to say about the city. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve heard anyone say anything positive about it. Of course, it is human nature to focus on negative things, because we tend to try to fix things. But it’s also a good idea to work on focusing on the positive and appreciating what is around us.

One of the outstanding things I have discovered about Meridian is Bonita Lakes, a free public park that is basically within the city. I’ve made sure to take time to start exploring this place, and it is absolutely gorgeous. This one feature alone makes Meridian an absolutely awesome place, and I plan on spending a lot of time there now that I’m working in Meridian.

Take some time today to reflect on what you have already have and how much you can appreciate it being a part of your life.
