The Death of Philosophy

This is a presentation I gave at the Mississippi Academy of Science’s History of Philosophy and Science panel. Essentially, in his new book, Stephen Hawking claims that philosophy is dead. I show that this claim has often been made (falsely) in the past, and why Hawking is also wrong in his claim here. I explain the relationship between science and metaphysics, and argue that ultimately, we need both of them. I think the presentation can stand on its own, but feel free to chime in with questions if anything isn’t clear.
