Charity Apparel Design

This post is part of a series by my students at Mississippi Governor’s School. As a final project, they were challenged with creating an idea that could be used on a massive scale to help others live the good life.

What did I learn in this class?

I learned that not everything is as simple as it seemed. I learned not to skim over everything, but instead take a closer look at everything. Not every question has an answer and not every plan works, but instead you need to make a plan that will do more good than harm. Walk down every road and walk down it again because things never end up the same way twice. Keep all of your senses open to the world, and you might just find what you were looking for.

What is my idea to improve the world?

My idea is to create a contest for different charities. To enter the contest, they only need to submit a design for certain clothing apparel. Different apparel will have contests on different days. The apparel that wins the contest will then be created and sold. The charity that designed the winning apparel will receive the profits from the sale and will be able to help their goals. This concept will promote artistic abilities and will liven the streets up with the custom designs and concepts people can think of. Once a month, special contests will be held. These contests will either apply to the holiday of the month or to a given concept ex: Courage, inspiration, uniqueness, etc.
